Beethoven in Beijing Virtual Screening
In celebration of Ludwig Beethoven's 250th birthday, AAWC is delighted to invite you to a free virtual screening of Beethoven in Beijing, an award-winning documentary showcasing the Philadelphia Orchestra’s unparalleled China legacy. AAWC is honored to serve as an ambassador to promote the film's virtual screening on December 16, 2020.
Beethoven in Beijing recounts the Philadelphia Orchestra’s breakthrough 1973 tour of China—the first American orchestra to visit the People’s Republic—and reveals the astounding resurgence of classical music there today. The documentary, which is co-directed by Jennifer Lin and Sharon Mullally, and produced by Sam Katz, features the stories of charismatic personalities like conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, pianist Lang Lang, and Oscar-winning composer Tan Dun.
Attendance is free, and tickets can be reserved at www.ludwig250.com. The film screening on December 16, 2020 will start at 7:30 pm with a short performance by the Philadelphia Orchestra, and end with Q&A with filmmakers. View the short trailer at: Beethoven In Beijing #Ludwig250 Invitation. Watch for a special ending involving AAWC and Cecilia, Liz, Carol, and adorable kids at the screening!
